In English, Madhushala loosely means a bar. This is like a utopian world.
No one is big or small here. It's a place where everyone is equal, drunk,
lively, and creative. Everyone is dancing here, enjoying life. Harivansh
Rai Bachchan already laid out a detailed description of our ashram,
"Madhushala", in around 1935.
It's a place of experimentations with life itself. Exploring and figuring
things out. Many of these experiments lead somewhere, while many of them
fail. But who cares? Madhushala exists as a reason to bring together people
who live intensely and dangerously. Playful experimentation helps us see
through rules and practices, and reach for things not yet known to the
world. Madhushala does whatever comes naturally to it, through it. Nothing
forced, everything graceful.
